The Grammarian Singers are supported by a member-based committee.
Musical Director – Roger Creed
Roger Creed has been long associated with music and CGS, Wheelers Hill Campus. Having directed Madrigal Group, choirs, musicals and ensembles for 30 years, he has influenced the musical development of many CGS alumni. Roger is the reason the Grammarian Singers came into existence. He leads the group through its programs of exciting and challenging music, and fabulous Monday night rehearsals.
Pianist and Assistant Director – Julie Argyle-Cross
Having taught many members of the Grammarian Singers, and alumni of Wheelers Hill Campus, Julie is a well-known and much-loved part of music at CGS. The matriarch of the ensemble, no rehearsal feels complete without her. Her piano playing is second-to-none.
President – Anita Muñoz
Anita attended CGS from 1992 to 1995 and was a member of Madrigal Group for 2 years. Having wanted to re-engage with music for many years after leaving school, the Grammarian Singers has presented the perfect opportunity to start making music again. Anita’s preferred genre is hard to pin down, but the a cappella favourites from the Madrigal ’90s and Broadway tunes do stand out as sentimental favourites.
Vice President – Barbara Iakovidis
Barbara was a member of the Madrigal Group at CGS between 1992 and 1995 and is honoured to be the Vice President of the Grammarian Singers. She is thrilled to be back singing again with both old and new friends and thrives on seeing the constant vocal development of the Grammarian Singers. She has a love of Broadway and Musicals.
Secretary – Genevieve Lim
Genevieve was a student at the school from 1986 to 1995 and a member of the madrigal group. She continued singing after school and performed in the MSO Chorus, but eventually stopped singing as life events took over. The group represents to her the perfect opportunity to manageably pursue musical excellence and enjoy the peculiar spiritual alchemy that comes from singing with other people. She likes John Rutter and bluegrass country music and she’s not afraid to say so publicly.
Treasurer – Matthew Davies
Matthew was a student at CGS from 2010 to 2015 and was a member of Madrigal and Jazz Choir. Since then, he has been blessed by the opportunity to join the Grammarian Singers. He enjoys the spontaneity and emotional clarity that music provides and relishes the chance to share in this with a community. Matthew is constantly exploring new sounds; he enjoys all good music, from vocal harmony to jazz, folk and everything in between.
Librarian – Jacob Lewis
Jacob attended CGS from 2004 – 2010 and was a member of the madrigal group in his senior years. Jacob then went on to a double degree in Science and Teaching. He eagerly jumped at the chance to join a choir with his peers. Since joining the Grammarian singers at its inception he has thoroughly enjoyed singing the variety of genre’s and looks forward to the ever-expanding repertoire of songs.
General Members
Christina Brasacchio
Christina finished at CGS in 2010, she went on to complete Media Studies at La Trobe University, where she has been part of the Baseball team since 2011, however, something was missing. Her love for music has been constantly focused on the musical scene. She loves Broadway and was missing her weekly opportunity to sing some amazing songs with amazing people for most of the decade. Grammarian Singers has provided music to become part of her weekly routine and she would not give it up for anything.
Emma George
Emma was a member of the Madrigal Group at CGS between 2002 and 2004 since then she has continued to sing regularly with the Salvo Big Band and with her church. Music has been a constant thread throughout her life and she is relishing the opportunity to be able to sing in a choir again. She enjoys the challenge of new and different styles of music as well as magic that can only come from voices in harmony.
